Working with Imagine is truly an adventure that will Open Your World. If you share our passion and fit any of the following profiles, come join the family!
Our action-packed summer camps give kids an unforgettable experience, with a vast range of adventurous outdoor activities at a range of locations.
Imagine instructors play a valuable role, leading many of the activities directly and supervising during activities that are run in collaboration with partners.
This is a very sociable and varied position. It is a great way to experience a range of Hokkaido’s best summer activities and it can be as fun for the instructors as it is for the kids!
Qualities we look for:
This position is for Monday to Friday every week for lots of weeks in a row over the summer period. In 2023 the camps are scheduled for June 19th to August 24th. There is training before the camps start, so you start approximately in early-mid June. Payment is comprised of a base salary plus instructing day pay. On any weeks when camps don’t go ahead, you get involved in other ways, such as training new staff, arranging equipment, organising photos and videos, helping with promotion or doing anything else that fits your strengths and interests while adding value. Exact arrangements can vary a lot based on many factors, so if you are interested, please get in touch first and we can discuss everything further.
This position if for instructors who already live in Hokkaido. We are generally unable to say far in advance which weeks we will need you, but the first step is to get in touch and get to know each other. Then, when it looks like a week may need more staff, we will get in touch to check if you are available to do it. Generally, a week of camp will be Monday to Friday, but in some cases we may need more staff on specific days for specific activities, e.g. just every Tuesday and Wednesday for many weeks in a row. There is a lot of flexibility here, so if you like what we do and want to generally get involved, just get in touch and say hi first!
Are you bilingual in Japanese and English? This role could be the one for you. We are looking for a team member to handle the enquiries and sign ups of the summer camps in both languages, keep track of payments, arrange transport, food, equipment, tickets and other elements of the camps.
In general, this is a full-time season role between late May and the end of August. You would work approximately 5 days per week but due to the nature of camp sign ups, enquiries may come at any time, so there may be some adjustments of the arrangements based on the situation. Some of the work can be done remotely, some will be in an office in Kimobetsu, and some of the time you will be out on the camps or going places to arrange things for the camps.
If things go well and if you are interested in extending after the summer, there may also be the option to stay on the team for Autumn, Winter or year-round. Your role on the team would then evolve over time based on your strengths and interests.
You should have excellent spoken and written Japanese and English skills, a passion for outdoor activities, live in Hokkaido, be polite, friendly and positive and be able to use most common computer software.
Depending on your strengths and interests, you may also get involved in camp counselling/instructing, taking and editing photos and videos, posting on social media, doing basic bookkeeping, translating marketing text, and even editing updating webpages.
Payment is on a monthly salary basis. Please enquire if interested!
